THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT

God's Word

Exodus 3:15

God spoke further to Moses, “Thus shall you say to the Israelites: The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. “This is my name forever; thus am I to be remembered through all generations.”

God's Word Today

Moses went to the top of Mt. Horeb to pray. He saw a bush that was on fire, but it did not burn. Moses was curious so he went closer. From the bush, God spoke to him. Moses was very scared at first, but God assured him that he would be all right. Why did God speak to Moses? He wanted to be sure Moses knew who He was. He wanted Moses to tell the people that He is the true God and should be remembered at all times. Today you can still read about Him in the Bible.

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of a burning bush. On the paper, put down the words you want God to say to you. Tell God you love Him.

God's Word

Psalms 43:4

That I may come to the altar of God, to God, my joy, my delight. Then I will praise you with the harp, Oh God, my God.

God's Word Today

When we go to the altar of God, it means we pray to Him. Most of the time we say prayers, but God also likes music. In this Psalm, the psalmist prays to God with his musical instrument, the harp.

To Do Today

Do you play an instrument? Have you ever played it for God? Today, play some music for God. You can play your own instrument or you can play your radio or CD. God loves music.

God's Word

Daniel 3:41

And now we follow you with our whole heart, we fear you and we pray to you.

God's Word Today

The three men who were thrown in a fiery furnace because they would not worship a false god. They called out their trust in God. God protected them from the flames and they sang a song to Him. They promised to follow Him with their whole heart. When they said they feared God they mean they respect him so much that they fear offending Him.

To Do Today

Today, read the whole story of the Fiery Furnace in Daniel, chapter 3. Discuss what happened with your parents or teacher.

God's Word

Deuteronomy 4:6

Observe the law carefully, for this will give evidence of your wisdom and intelligence to the nations, who will hear of all these statutes and say, ‘This great nation is a truly wise and intelligent people.”

God's Word Today

This Bible verse is telling us to follow the rules of God and our country, remembering that other people are watching us. We want them to see good Christian behavior. Do you watch what other people do? You can tell something about people when you watch them. For example, when you see someone steal candy from the store, you know something about that person. When you see a child drop a toy and another person picks it up and returns it to the owner, you know something about that person.

To Do Today

Today, make a list of rules you have in your country. Draw or color a map of your country.

God's Word

Jeremiah 7:23

Listen to my voice; then I will be your God and you shall be my people. Walk in all the ways that I command you, so that you may prosper.

God's Word Today

God is telling you to listen to His voice. There are many ways to hear His voice. His voice is the voice of love. You hear God when someone tells you that they love you. You hear God in beautiful music. You hear God when the rain falls or the wind blows in the trees. You hear God when a baby giggles.

To Do Today

Today, think of all the ways you hear God. Draw a picture or write a story of your favorite way to hear God.

God's Word

Hosea 14:10

Straight are the paths of the Lord, in them the just walk, but sinners stumble in them.

God's Word Today

If you try and do everything Jesus tells you, you are walking in His path. You are walking like He wants you to. That is why it says you walk a straight path. But if you do bad things, or make mistakes or stumble, you are called a sinner . Jesus wants to help you when you stumble. He will forgive you. He will love you forever.

To Do Today

Today, make a list of all the ways you walk straight. List all the things you did this week that Jesus would be happy about. Did they make you happy too?

God's Word

Hosea 6:3b

He will come to us like the rain, like spring rain that waters the earth.

God's Word Today

God promises that He will always be there for you. In this verse, Hosea says that God comes to us like the rain. Rain falls from the clouds to water the earth. It helps the plants to grow. God’s love falls on you from heaven and helps you to grow.

To Do Today

Today, draw a picture of a rainy day. Thank God for the rain and for His love.
